| 2022 ACHIEVEMENTSThe Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) I-80 & I-215 Renewed project made steady progress through the project’s second construction season. Crews completed the following in 2022:Reconstructed eastbound I-80 between 1300 East and 2300 East and southbound I-215 between 3300 South and 4500 South Replaced the 1700 East bridge over I-80Started building the new 1300 East bridge over I-80Reconstructed the eastbound section of the I-80 bridge above 2000 EastReconstructed three ramps on I-215Southbound I-215 on- and off-ramps at 3900 SouthSouthbound I-215 off-ramp to 4500 SouthReconstructed two ramps on I-80Eastbound I-80 off-ramp to 2300 EastWestbound I-80 on-ramp from 2300 EastSee below for some impressive construction statistics of 2022!BRIDGE REPLACEMENTSIn 2022, crews replaced the 1700 East bridge over I-80 in Salt Lake City by building a new bridge next to the existing bridge, demolishing the old bridge and sliding the new bridge into place. The 1300 East bridge over I-80 will be replaced using the same method in March or April 2023. WHAT’S NEXT?In 2023, the team expects to complete the following milestones: Replacement of the 1300 East bridge over I-80Demolishing the existing 1300 East bridge over I-80 Sliding the new 1300 East bridge into place Reconstruction of the westbound and median sections of the I-80 bridge over 2000 EastReconstruction of westbound I-80 between 1300 East and 2300 East and northbound I-215 between 3300 South and 4500 SouthReconstruction of three ramps on I-80 Eastbound I-80 on-ramp from 1300 EastWestbound I-80 on-ramp from northbound 1300 EastWestbound I-80 off-ramp to 1300 EastReconstruction of four ramps on I-215Northbound I-215 on-ramps from 3800 South and 3900 SouthNorthbound I-215 off-ramp to 3300/3900 SouthSouthbound I-215 on-ramp from 3300 SouthThe project will be substantially complete by the end of 2023.
