SUGAR HOUSE COMMUNITY COUNCIL BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING

Meeting Minutes – February 1, 2012

The regular meeting of the Sugar House Community Council was held on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at 7:00pm, at the Sprague Library.

(List of trustees in attendance is not available.) Christopher Thomas served as chair and Cabot Nelson as secretary. The trustees noted as excused were Travis Pearce, Larry Migiliacio, and James Brown.

Call to order at 7:04pm. The minutes of the January meeting were approved.

The petitions for Grace Sperry and Michael G. Kavanagh were approved.

Robin Bastar gave his treasurer report.

Committee reports

Judi Short reported for the Land Use and Zoning committee. A motion regarding support of the city’s alley policy failed on a voice vote.

Sally Barraclough reported for the Parks, Open Space, and Trails committee.

Rawlins Young offered no report for the Transportation committee, but answered a question regarding the UTA.

Cabot Nelson reported for the Web and Internet committee.

Laurie Bray reported for the Arts and Cultural committee.

There was no formal report for the SH Business committee, but it was noted that Annalisa Holcombe has been elected as chair.

Community groups and projects

No reports.

Special presentations

Ed Butterfield of the Salt Lake City Redevelopment Agency reported about Sugar House Streetcar and various projects in Sugar House.

Colin Quinn-Hurst of the Salt Lake City Transportation, Bicycle and Pedestrian Program reported on the city’s orange pedestrian flags. The SHCC moved to support the idea that pedestrian crossing flags be enabled to support commercial sponsorships through branding, naming, or logos on the flags. It passed on a voice vote.

Community and City Presentations

Det. Boelter, SLPD, gave a report on area crime.

Michael G. Kavanagh introduced Nerissa E. Millo, general manager of Caterina Restaurant at 2155 S. Highland Dr. (formerly Cucina Nossi, now French sister of Cucina Toscana).

Barbara Green reported for the SH Merchants Association.

Dolly Rauh reported on library events.

Shawn McDonough gave a report for the Mayor’s Office.
