SH LUZ REPORT DECEMBER 2018/JANUARY 2019

January 23, 2019 – The Planning Commission forwarded a  positive recommendation to the City Council for the Early Notification Text Amendment –  related to early notification and public participation in planning processes. The purpose of the proposed changes is to clarify the language in the ordinance as well as increase awareness and participation by the public while affording a timely review process for applicants and projects.
The proposed regulation changes will affect various sections of the City Code including Section 2.60, Recognized Community Organizations, Title 20, Subdivisions and Title 21A, Zoning Ordinance. Related provisions of the City Code may also be amended as part of this petition. (Staff contact: Tracy Tran at (801) 535-7645 tracy.tran@slcgov.com). In December the Planning Commission had a briefing on the Sugar House Business District Design Standards http://www.slcdocs.com/Planning/Planning%20Commission/2018/00210Memo.pdf
There will be an Open House in Sugar House later this month to give the public an opportunity to review the proposals.  This is to codify some of the details in the Sugar House Master Plan that are not yet codified.

The February Land Use and Zoning Committee meeting was cancelled.  A number of SHCC trustees, plus five Salt Lake City Council members and Mayor Biskupski attended the meeting of the Millcreek City Council on Monday February 11 at 7 p.m. at 3330 South 1300 East.  Here is the agenda: https://millcreek.us/agendacenter.
The Millcreek City Council voted to drop this request and work with the Salt Lake City Council and residents to resolve these issues, and pull HB 262.  They also agreed they would not vote on their Millcreek map (that was scheduled to be approved later in the meeting) tonight.
