We will be alerting people mostly by facebook so please take a moment and like our page to stay on top of issues. Summer is wrapping up, but we still have so much going on in our area. I have been out riding my bike along Parley's Trail and have thoroughly enjoyed the new connectivity of neighborhoods. Parley's Trail is an effort to connect the Bonneville Shoreline Trail to the Jordan River Parkway. The Salt Lake City portion is nearly complete, but work still continues on the section from 1700 E to Tanner Park. Salt Lake City Engineering should be sending out the majority of this section to bid with work commencing in the fall. This trail is a great amenity for residents to more easily enjoy walking or bike riding without being alongside traffic.

Salt Lake City is seeking public input for their transit master plan. This is a critical document and vision for Sugar House as it will hopefully guide future expansion of the trolley service and/or bus routes. Don't miss out on your chance to give your...

An update to the 21st & 21st Small Area Plan will be given at the Planning Commission meeting Wednesday, August 12th at the City & County Building, 451 S State St at 5:30pm.   The Planning Staff will provide the Planning Commission an update. The project includes an area stretching along 2100 South from approximately 2000 East to 2300 East. The small area master plan will address the characteristics of the future development of this neighborhood. The goal of this plan is to create an improved and beautified business district that is a unique destination but still remains compatible in scale with nearby neighborhoods. The plan will establish guidelines for private development, public spaces such as sidewalks, park strips and streets. The plan is currently finishing up the data gathering stage and is moving towards scenario development.  Many of you probably attended the recent Open House. (Staff contact John Anderson (801) 535-7214 or john.anderson@slcgov.com )

Times have certainly changed from when Sugar House was dirt roads and farm land. The photo I found in the Giovale Digital Library of Westminster Campus certainly shows how our community has been in constant flux to what we live now.1300 E Westminster Make sure you check out our events page to not miss out on all the fun activities.  The SHCC tries to help highlight all the events, but we know we miss some. Thank you to the Sugar House Chamber for their work to pull off this festival and fApollo Burger for returning as the lead sponsor to bring you the fireworks! We celebrate Independence Day and our freedom, but I am left wondering how engaged we are in the rights and freedom we are afforded. Salt Lake City has a primary election for Mayor this year and an estimated 20% of registered voters will actually vote. We celebrate the independence and freedom on the 4th of July as an honored tradition. Yet, too many citizens are not engaged in electing our leaders.
